Working in the same chair at the same desk in the same office every day can become tedious. And as a working adult there will often be times when all of your days mold into one and you aren’t sure even what week it is anymore.
Staying focused in the office can be easier said than done. When it comes to keeping your mind concentrated on one single thing for a while it can be a big challenge and sometimes you need some help to keep your mind working. Here are some of our top tips for keeping yourself focused in the office.
Schedule your time
The first and most important thing you can do for better working days is to use your time wisely and schedule it. You can use an appointment booking app and a diary and other tools to make sure that your days are planned out from start to finish and this will help you to really nail down your routine and stay focused.
Take regular breaks
As important as it is to work hard when you are at work, you should also make sure that you take time away from your desk every few hours. No one can reasonably sit at a desk for 8 hours and be productive and it isn’t healthy behavior. Make sure that you take the time out every now and again to stretch your legs and clear your mind. When you sit back down this will help you keep a clear head and stay focused.
Stop and change
There will be times during the day where you have a mammoth task to do and you simply can’t bring yourself to do it fully. This is okay! It is important for you if you start to grow tired of one task to start a different one. The simple act of changing what you are doing for a while can be great and it will allow you to focus on something brand new for a while.
Organize your day
As we said before it is super important to schedule your time, but you will also want to organise your day into small breaks and work and give yourself the ability to focus on your tasks. Make sure that you spend time writing a to do list at the end of the day for the next day. This will make life a lot easier when you get into work and you can simply start right away.
Get talking
Most bosses won’t like this, but it is true that speaking to people throughout your working day can help you focus. If you are in an office which sits in silence all day every day this is not a good thing. You are always better off talking to people and communicating throughout the day. Doing this will not only keep you awake but it will also allow you to toss around ideas and get inspiration for your work. This can be a game changer in the office.
