Onboarding staff is one of the smartest things you can do if you want your team to have a bright and happy future with you. You put a lot of thought and effort into the hiring process, so why not the onboarding process? Onboarding does the following:
- Improves new employee performance
- Increases new employee engagement
- Increases employee retention
- Decreases the time after hire until new employee becomes fully productive
Your onboarding program for your employees needs to be consistent. You should also plan to talk about the following things:
- Objectives
- Roles
- Phases or stages, during which activities occur
- Measurements and evaluations
Your onboarding objectives should be to make your new employee feel valued, explain the company culture, help them meet expectations, and so on. Remember that different members of your team will play different parts here, from your management to a sponsor/buddy.
When hiring staff and making sure they are prepared for a future in your company, they also need to understand the importance of online security. Hackers and threats of all kinds are out there all the time these days, so your employees must be reminded of what to do in order to keep them away and how they can eradicate the problem. You can also use penetration testing to ensure there are no holes in your system that an attacker can easily get through – however, human error can still be a big issue for businesses. Make sure this is a clear part of your onboarding process.
